Thursday, April 12, 2007 Water. Land. Home. Facilitated by Deb Hibbard Though my ideas for the evening are continuing to take shape, this will be an opportunity for us to consider together water and land in New Mexico. I have provided some readings for your reflection, and invite you to bring along other readings (or photos, art, etc.) to share that are meaningful to you. The evening will be one of exploration and co-creation, about Earth and our sense of place, and, more locally, our selves in relation to the Great River, the Rio Grande. What is the relationship of Place and Community? What is meant by “vacant land?” What is water? What creates a connection to Place? Where are our own places-of-the-heart? Is there an essential need for Wildness? What inspires a sense of responsible stewardship; shifts in consciousness? What are your questions? (Deb Hibbard is a community organizer, with more than thirty-five years of “grassroots” experience working on a variety of peace, social justice, and environmental issues. For the past decade, she has been focused on land and water issues in the Middle Rio Grande Valley. She is dedicated to community building, conflict resolution, and creative action.)
